FALL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT COMPETENT
PERSON |
| Description |
The
Working at Height Regulations 2005, the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992, the Provision
and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Lifting
Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER),
all stipulate the requirement for periodic equipment
inspections carried out by competent persons. LOLER, the
most prescriptive inspection related legislation, stipulates
"Thorough Examinations" must be undertaken every 6 months
by a competent person and the results must be recorded
and held for 2 years. In addition, "Inspections" should
be carried out by a competent person every time the equipment
is subjected to abnormal circumstances such as overloading
or contamination. The PPE and Lifting Equipment Competent
Person is a stand alone programme designed to train equipment
custodians to Thoroughly Examine and Inspect all items
of PPE and Lifting Equipment used by their organisation.

BOLT INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN
|
| Description |
For
many work at height tasks, the location of existing structural
anchors are unsuitable. Installing and testing safety
harness bolts either for PPE (Fall Arrest) or work positioning
is quick, cost effective and low impact. When installing
bolts that conform to BS EN 795 A1, technicians must be
competent in accordance with BS 7883.

Selection
and use of bolt installation work equipment.
Anchor selection.
Chemical
bolt placement and installation.
Mechanical
bolt placement and installation.
Testing
procedures and recording requirements.

| RIG
also provide a bolt installation and testing service installing
anchors to BS EN 7883 and undertaking pullout tests for
mechanical and chemical anchors up to 100kN. |

Industrial
Rope Access provides a safe and efficient means of access
to undertake a wide variety of tasks. Rope access is a
form of work positioning, initially developed from techniques
used in climbing and caving, which applies practical ropework
to cater for the various needs of industry. Rope access
companies are able to provide specialist staff who have
solid experience in particular types of work. IRATA's
principal aim is to ensure that work carried out by its
members using industrial rope access techniques, is done
in a safe and high quality manner. |

description: |
This
intensive 5-day course is designed to ensure delegates
are able to perform a full range of rope access tasks
required by his or her employer whilst under the supervision
of a competent rope access supervisor. Following
successful completion of the course, clients will be able
to perform the basics of safe rope access techniques,
including competency in: assisting the supervisor in rigging
and rescue, checking and logging of personal suspension
equipment, executing simple rescue scenarios under supervision
and in the application of height related health and
safety legislation.

description: |
A
Level 3 Technician has full responsibility for the rope
access work site and any Level 1's or 2's under his/her
supervision. He / she must be fully conversant with the
relevant work techniques and legislation. Delegates are
trained and assessed in all the techniques required of
a Level 1 and 2, and in addition, in advanced rescue techniques.
All delegates must hold an appropriate up-to-date
First Aid certificate to show that they have undertaken
suitable emergency first aid training.

Guarantee
RIG offer a free 2
day re-training package for candidates who complete any full
5 day course but subsequently prove unsuccessful on assessment.

bespoke training evolutions to support specialist operations.
